FAQ
What is the goal of this project?
The goal of this project is to provide accessible, affordable transportation options to the residents of Muskoka, allowing them to attend medical appointments, go to school, run errands, and better participate in daily life. We hope to serve as much of the population as possible in an efficient manner and to work together with other local and neighbouring transportation providers to deliver seamless service.
What efforts are being made to make sure the voices of the people who rely on public transportation are being heard?
Several steps are being taken to ensure that input is received from residents who rely on public transportation to get around and beyond Muskoka. We will be conducting focus groups with a variety of stakeholders, including agencies that work directly with residents who rely on public transportation. We will also be conducting in-person surveys with Corridor 11 Bus riders. Finally, a community-wide survey will be available online for all members of the public to complete. We encourage you to complete the survey and share the link so as many people as possible provide input.
When will new routes or services be decided and when will they become operational?
Transportation Consulting Network and Dillion Consulting have committed to completing their final report by Summer 2020. Their report will propose new or expanded services. If approved by District Council, new transportation initiatives will implemented over the next 3 years.
Will any of the new transportation services be accessible?
Yes. One of the main goals of the 5-year Transportation Needs Assessment and Growth and Sustainability Plan is to build not only affordable, but accessible transportation options for residents of Muskoka.
