Hair Care
Please note that Sandra, our Hairdresser, will no longer be providing services to Fairvern. We thank her for her service and recruitment is underway for a replacement. Families are more than welcome to arrange another hairdresser to come in and cut their loved ones hair. The Fairvern Hair Salon can be used. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Staff Education
In August Fairvern hosted Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) training and recertification. GPA is a course that teaches caregivers how to understand and respond to dementia related behaviors. Staff are taught ‘respectful self-protective and gentle redirection techniques‘. More GPA courses being offered in coming months.
Jamie from Specialized Geriatric Services provided some follow-up education regarding personality disorders. Jamie covered “What is a Personality Disorder” (quick review from previous month). Discussion on care strategies for staff to utilize when working with an older adult with personality disorder such as: setting healthy boundaries, communication strategies, preventing team splitting, and care planning.
