Birch Home Area in Heightened Surveillance as of October 10, 2023

In collaboration with Public Health, the Birch Home Area has been placed in heightened surveillance related to respiratory symptoms. We have one (1) resident with respiratory symptoms, but is currently negative for COVID. Family members have been updated.

The following measures need to be taken:

Twice daily respiratory screening for Birch
Activities for Birch residents are to be cohorted and encouraged to stay on unit
Close contacts should not visit unaffected areas of the home
Increased hand hygiene for residents and staff
All residents of the home to be offered masks when joining a group activity
Enhanced High Touch Surfaces cleaning in Birch and in common areas throughout the home
No impact to visiting at this time
Surgical masks and eye protection are highly recommended to be utilized in Birch and throughout the entire home at this time.
