• The Whole Home Respiratory (symptoms such as cough, hoarse voice, sore throat, and lethargy) Outbreak continues at this time.
• Spruce remains in a COVID-19 Outbreak.
• Oak remains in Enteric (symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea) and COVID-19 Outbreaks.
• Cedar remains in Respiratory and COVID-19 outbreaks.

Family members of those affected residents have been notified. We will continue to provide updates as we work through the outbreaks. Masks must remain on in the resident's rooms at this time and N95 masks and eye protection are highly recommended in the affected home areas.

No General Visitors to the Home at this time. Essential Caregivers may visit a maximum of two (2) at a time.

• Oak Home Area: Currently no residents are isolated with enteric symptoms (Public Health reviewing to declare over), three (3) residents with respiratory symptoms, and three (3) residents with COVID-19 symptoms.
• Cedar Home Area: Currently two (2) residents are isolated with respiratory symptoms and one (1) resident with COVID-19 symptoms.
• Spruce Home Area: Currently has one (1) resident isolated with respiratory symptoms and two (2) residents with COVID-19 symptoms.

Enhanced Infection Control Measures within the home include:

• Increased hand hygiene for staff and residents prior to meals
• Increased cleaning on affected units by housekeeping
• Increased PPE audits and hand hygiene audits
• Twice daily symptom screening
• Staff cohorting where possible
• All individuals are to be masked throughout the home in common areas.
• Mandatory N95 masks and Eye protection at all times on Cedar, Oak, and Spruce.
• Residents in affected areas avoid group activities.

The tax receipts for accommodation charges for 2022 should be received soon. They were mailed out at the end of February. If anyone hasn’t received anything yet, they can reach out to the Administrative Team at the Pines and we can assist with this.

The team is very proud and thankful for the service that Celine provides to the residents at the home. Congratulations, Celine.

Joanne Warden (Physiotherapy Assistant-PTA) has moved on from LifeMark. We wish her well in her future endeavor.

Devanshi (PTA) has taken on the full-time PTA position with Joanne leaving.

LifeMark is actively recruiting for another PTA.

CARF International is a private, nonprofit organization.

CARF develops and maintains current, field-driven standards that improve the value and responsiveness of the programs and services delivered to people needing life-enhancement services.

Our Home is currently Accredited but is set to expire on May 31, 2023. Therefore, we will go through this process in the spring to ensure that our home meets and exceeds industry standards.

Our Home has received our assessment dates: April 27, and 28th, 2023. This assessment will be virtually related to the Pandemic and potential outbreaks.

Due to the ongoing outbreaks in the home the Couples Club will be Canceled on Sunday

• Currently small group activities in the unaffected outbreak home areas- Maple and Birch.
• One-to-one activities in the outbreak home areas to help reduce the spread of the viruses.

Please join me in congratulating Kimberly Sander as the new Director of Care with The Pines Long Term Care Home, Division of Health Services, reporting to Jennifer Ridgley, Administrator.

Kim is a Registered Nurse with over 15 years of experience in the nursing field including leadership roles. She started her journey with the District in November 2022 as the Assistant Director of Care. She has been the Client Service Leader for One Kids Place and prior to that was the Program Manager for Perioperative and Perianesthesia Services at the Orillia Hospital. In her time with the Pines, Kim has brought professionalism, drive, and leadership to the nursing team. Kim holds her BScN from the University of Ontario and is currently completing her Master of Science in Nursing Majoring in Leadership and Management. She will assist in strengthening and guiding the nursing leadership team and growing our Pines LTC home team.

Kim’s official start date is Monday, March 27, 2023.
