CARF develops and maintains current, field-driven standards that improve the value and responsiveness of the programs and services delivered to people needing life-enhancement services.
Our Home is currently Accredited but is set to expire on May 31, 2023. Therefore, we will go through this process in the spring to ensure that our home meets and exceeds industry standards.
Our Home has received our assessment dates: April 27, and 28th, 2023. This assessment will be virtually related to the Pandemic and potential outbreaks.

Kim is a Registered Nurse with over 15 years of experience in the nursing field including leadership roles. She started her journey with the District in November 2022 as the Assistant Director of Care. She has been the Client Service Leader for One Kids Place and prior to that was the Program Manager for Perioperative and Perianesthesia Services at the Orillia Hospital. In her time with the Pines, Kim has brought professionalism, drive, and leadership to the nursing team. Kim holds her BScN from the University of Ontario and is currently completing her Master of Science in Nursing Majoring in Leadership and Management. She will assist in strengthening and guiding the nursing leadership team and growing our Pines LTC home team.
Kim’s official start date is Monday, March 27, 2023.

- Spruce remains in a COVID-19 Outbreak.
- Oak remains in Enteric (symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea) and COVID-19 Outbreaks.
- Cedar remains in Respiratory and COVID-19 outbreaks.
Family members of those affected residents have been notified. We will continue to provide updated as we work through the outbreaks. Masks must remain on in the resident's rooms at this time and N95 masks and eye protection are highly recommended on the affected home areas.
No General Visitors to the Home at this time. Essential Caregivers may visit to a maximum of two (2) at a time.
- Oak Home Area: Currently one (1) resident isolated with enteric symptoms, two (2) residents with respiratory symptoms and five (5) residents with COVID-19 symptoms.
- Cedar Home Area: Currently four (4) residents isolated with respiratory symptoms and four (4) residents with COVID-19 symptoms.
- Spruce Home Area: Currently has two (2) residents isolated with respiratory symptoms and one (1) residents with COVID-19 symptoms.
Enhanced Infection Control Measures within the home include:
- Increased hand hygiene for staff and residents prior to meals
- Increased cleaning on affected units by housekeeping
- Increased PPE audits and hand hygiene audits
- Twice daily symptom screening
- Staff cohorting where possible
- All individuals are to be masked through the home in common areas.
- Mandatory N95 masks and Eye protection at all times on Cedar, Oak and Spruce.
- Residents on affected areas to avoid group activities.
