The Activity Department is excited to announce that our bus outings are underway! We had our first trip on Nov. 14^th when residents ventured out for a country drive. There are more upcoming lunch trips and country drives planned for the remainder of the month. Please watch the activity calendars monthly for these events.

Volunteer support is an important aspect of being able to offer outings to our residents. If you or someone you know wish to volunteer on our outings or for programs offered in the home, please contact the Activity Department.

With the weather changing, it’s a great time for family members to bring in proper winter gear for residents to go out in the community. Hats, gloves, mitts, scarves, coats, and boots for your loved one would be appreciated if you feel that they might like to either go outside or go on an outing.

• The new generator installation is going very smoothly and its completion is less than a month away. The remaining electrical work will require three to four power interruptions, each lasting up to 4 hours in duration. There will be a planned outage only for the support building (not resident home areas) on Monday November 13, 2023 from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.
• The Oak emergency exit ramp has been completed and now can be utilized should there be a building evacuation. A temporary wooden handrail has been installed while the permeant railing is being fabricated. It should be ready for installation in 6-8 weeks.
• There was an annual hot water tank inspection on November 9th, 2023. The water at this time is restored, but there is a slight tint to the water.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the final two sessions with the Alzheimer's Society have been canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Our team is looking to determine who all the veterans are within the home. If your loved one is a veteran, please contact our activities department at extension 4873 or email Lisa Friesen, Activity Aide, at lisa.friesen@muskoka.on.ca

We would like to ensure that all of our veterans are properly recognize at the ceremony on November 11th, 2023.

All Long-Term Care homes in Ontario received notification that due to the recent trends showing a moderate to high level of community transmission of COVID-19 and an increase in COVID-19 outbreaks in home, with an increased risk of hospitalization amongst residents. We will be required to follow the masking guidelines below.

Based on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the following enhanced masking measures for non-outbreak situations are being put into effect in LTCHs:

• Requiring staff, students, support workers, and volunteers to wear a mask when in resident areas indoors, and
• Strongly recommending visitors and caregivers to wear a mask in resident areas indoors except when with the resident in the resident’s room or when eating or drinking with a resident in communal spaces. If a resident in a shared room is uncomfortable with others removing their mask, homes are encouraged to designate a space to enable the roommate to have visitors without masking.

We will be implementing the following changes as of November 6, 2023.
