Dr. Kent Phillips started practicing medicine in 1969 and has been a partner in care at the Pines for over 30 years. Dr. Phillips has decided that it is time to retire, and we would like to thank him for his many, many years of service to the residents of the Pines.

As Dr. Phillips retires, he has provided us with a perfect replacement to fill his shoes. We would like to welcome Dr. Kristen Jones to the Pines Team. Dr. Jones has been in to meet all the residents and some staff recently and is looking forward to working with all of us. Dr. Jones is taking over immediately, on July 14, 2023.

We will be hosting a celebration for Dr. Phillips in the near future so stay tuned for that.

Again, thank you Dr. Phillips, and Welcome Dr. Jones!

Meals with your loved ones can once again be enjoyed together!

If you wish to enjoy a meal with your loved one at the Pines, please get in touch with the Administration team 24 hours before to reserve your spot.

Breakfast is $5.00, lunch is $5.00 and dinner is $10.00 which can be paid on the day you have booked to have the meal. We can support up to three (3) guests for one resident (totaling a table of four (4)). Upon payment, a ticket (or tickets) will be given to you from the administration team and this ticket(s) is to be presented to the staff member who takes your meal order on the day of your booking.

Family Council will take a summer break and resume meetings in September. There will be a Family Update during the time slot that the Family Council Meeting occurs typically for July and August. We hope to see you there.

For the safety of the residents and staff, please do not place any items on top of the wardrobe located in the resident's room. Items on top of the wardrobes have been relocated by our health and safety team to reduce the risk of a resident or staff member being injured by a falling item. In some instances, the wardrobe is also close to a sprinkler and an item on top of the wardrobe is against the fire code. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping everyone safe in the home.

July 22^nd – 2:00 p.m. - Family and Resident Paint Event in the Main Courtyard – Please contact, Lisa Friesen at ext. 4873 or lisa.friesen@muskoka.on.ca in Activities if you wish to join with your loved one.

July 23^rd at 12:00 p.m. - Couples Club Hawaiian-themed Steak and Chicken BBQ. Please contact, Lisa Friesen at ext. 4873 or lisa.friesen@muskoka.on.ca. The cost is $20 per person.

The activities Team is also trying to organize a weekly bridge game for residents. Please let a team member know if your loved one plays bridge and family members are welcome to join. We are extending an invitation to residents of McVittie Place and hope to get some extra players.

The Exit for the Home is now through the Front Door. The keypad has been updated on the side door and is no longer accessible to exit the home.
